My story “Thoughts and Prayers” will soon be published in Humans in the Wild: Reactions to a Gun Loving Country, an anthology of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry on the topic of gun violence.

This is a bittersweet announcement to make.  I’m very happy to be included in this collection, but at the same time, I wish I’d never had a reason to write this story to begin with.

Last year, a friend of mine was murdered.  Writing “Thoughts and Prayers” was my small way of honoring her memory.  I also used the story to explore grief, faith, and our country’s almost-religious fascination with guns.

I’m so grateful to be part of Humans in the Wild.  You can read the announcement from Swallow Publishing here.

I’ll let you know once I have more news about a publication date.

Take care,

Justin
